Air quality is monitored every hour at street level and roof level in Stockholm and Uppsala city centre. Outside this area urban background concentrations and rural background concentrations are also monitored hourly.
The street air quality monitoring is performed hourly at cross sections of two main streets in Stockholm city centre. These streets have traffic flows between 30 000 and 40 000 vehicles per day and are located in different directions. The mean values from the monitoring points in these streets are a representative base fore the local air quality index for main streets in Stockholm city centre for any wind direction.
Hourly values from three meterological masts generate stability data used for air pollution dispersion calculations. SODAR stations generate vertical profile data used for short term air quality forecasts in the city centre.
