The road emission databases for the sixties were updated from
traffic flow maps for main streets in Stockholm, Solna and Sundbyberg
and main roads outside these parts. Traffic in the central parts
of Stockholm county inreased with about 50 percent in the sixties.
During the sixties the growth of traffic in the rest of the county
was between 20 and 30 percent. This traffic growth was applied
to the roads in these parts.
Nitrogen oxides concentrations are used as one indicator of air
pollution from road traffic. Therefore the final calculations
of nitrogen oxides concentrations include only emissions from
road traffic. The contribution of road traffic concentrations
of nitrogen oxides is shown in the figure above.
