The road emission databases for the eighties were updated from
traffic flow maps for main streets in Stockholm, Solna and Sundbyberg
and main roads outside these parts. Traffic volumes in these central
parts of Stockholm increased between 10 and 20 percent in the
eighties.
In the rest of the county traffic increased with about 30 percent
during the eighties. This traffic growth was applied to the roads
in these parts.
Nitrogen oxides concentrations are used as one indicator of air
pollution from road traffic. The contribution from the road traffic
emissions to the total concentrations of nitrogen oxides in the
eighties is shown in the figure above. |
