In October 1968 the sulphur content in the oil was limited to
1 percent in Stockholm city centre and in October 1969 in the
rest of the city. The following years also other municipalities
around Stockholm converted to low sulphur content in the oil.
The expansion of the district heating system continued in the
seventies. The northern of the city centre was connected to the
system in the beginning of the seventies. In the end of the seventies
near 50 percent of the energy demand for heating in Stockholm
city was covered by district heating.
The oil crisis 1973-74 caused a start of actions for energy savings
in the second part of the seventies.
